In the human zoo, that metaphorically describes today’s world, pressure and stress are becoming common day adjectives to describe the experience of life for many. Long hours, loneliness, disconnection from family as a result of increased social mobility, work demands, financial pressures, school expectations and target driven agendas, to name but a few, are now the norm for many. Resultantly, we are pushed and pressurised more than ever before with the burden to achieve and be successful sitting heavy on our shoulders. As such the reality is that levels of depression and anxiety are soaring and chronic health conditions are more prolific in society as a whole.

Fulfilling Potential

However, we also read stories in our newspapers or see social media highlights of people achieving amazing things, seemingly soaring to their potential. We may well ask what is it that allows some to seemingly manage their lives with so much ease whilst others struggle and feel like they fail constantly. How can some people seem to thrive in this pressurised world and retain a sense of authenticity and resilience to cope with change and manage stress whilst also achieving their potential?

For sure, there are no easy answers, but for a number of these people, coaching has provided a meaningful way to explore and become the people they want to be. These people have found that by working with a coach on a one to one basis, their journey to personal growth and transformation finds momentum and the results that they attest to suggest that this way of working can really make a difference. What is Coaching?

Coaching is a process that enables a person (the coachee) to improve their performance or develop further to achieve their potential. By nature, it is transformative supporting the coachee from the position of where they are to where they want to be.  As such it is a goal-orientated, directional form of assistance engaging the skill set of a coach to facilitate the performance, learning and development of the coachee. In collaboration with the coach, the coachee enters a solution-focused result-oriented and methodical process. 

Coaching, then, is a result focused practical exercise posited in the present whilst projecting to the future.  It does not substitute personal motivation but more so engages the coach and coachee in a conversation that aids and maps out a journey for the coachee to embark upon.  The coach is a guide empowering the coachee. Critically it is a process of encouraging self-insight and is driven forward with keen respect on the coachee’s autonomy.  Generally, too it is a short-term process availing the coachee of a metaphorical tool kit on which to drawer from in the future

How long is a coaching session?

Typically a session will be 45 to 50 minutes long with the agenda being set by yourself. We then expertly guide you through a process of transformation from identifying what you want to work on, to helping you maximise on your strengths and work around the barriers so that you are equipped with a tool kit that will help you move forward positively. This process is about giving you autonomy so you are in control of your destiny.
